Bridge's Vidya Resolutions for 2010

As I type this, it's almost 7:00 PM CST and 2010 is merely ... 3ish hours away. Like anybody else in the world, I'm going to try and keep some New Year's Resolutions. Personally I've tried before and... well, miserably failed. But this time around I'm going to actually try and keep them. Of course, there's some standard ones but this is a video game blog, these are vidya game related.

1. Gotta Catch 'Em All:
   This is going to be the year. After being a fan of Pokemon since the very first generation, and with the release of Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver in March, I'm finally going to try and complete my Pokedex. Granted, I already have several of the Pokemon, but I'm going to actually try and hit that 493 mark in my file of Pokemon Soul Silver, and get that digital certificate with pride.
2. Bananas in Barrels
   It's no secret among my friends, I'm a huge fan of the Donkey Kong Country series by Rare Ltd. (then Rareware), but one thing I've yet to do is actually fully complete the first two games in the series, Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. While I did manage to do that in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble (more than five times in both the GBA and Wii VC Release, even!) I'm finally going to do the same in the first two games in the popular and classic SNES series. Let's just hope K. Rool doesn't stop me in my tracks..
   
3. The Perfect Mission
   Little known fact, I never truly played the Rare Ltd N64 classic Perfect Dark until this year when I got a sealed copy on eBay for a good deal. However, thanks to school work I wound up not finishing the game... and I got it in October. So, this year I dare say I'm going to finish this game, since not only is it excellent, but I need to put my N64 back up out of storage. I wonder if dataDyne would be reading this...
   
4. Brawling Down the River
   Super Smash Bros. Brawl is a wonderful game, at least I thought so... it was one of my most hyped games of 2008. I'm sure everyone remembers staying up for Japan Time on the Official Smash Bros Dojo... I remember waiting for character reveals. Unfortunately no one suspected that since the game is a dual layered disc, some Wii systems would have trouble reading the disc due to dust/smoke build up on the lens. After a long time, my lens is doing the same... so eventually I'm going to try and get my Wii sent out to Nintendo so I can get the game playable again... and definitely before Super Mario Galaxy 2 comes out.
5. Think Outside the Box...
   Fun fact: I would actually be considered a Nintendo fanboy. I've only owned Nintendo systems until 2008... and that was an XBOX 360. However, I wound up getting it at the exact wrong time... I had only one friend I could play with Live over, and well, I needed money for college at the time being a fresh high school graduate. However, this year I'm going to finally change that as I -finally- get into the XBOX 360 craze, get another one, and I'm going to make myself enjoy it. Since they upgraded to the New XBOX Experience, (I got my first one, an Arcade... ick, before that.) I've loved the newer features such as Netflix streaming and party viewing. So, my last vidya resolution will be to get an XBOX 360... hopefully an Elite, by March of 2009. I just thank god the controller is not the monstrosity that came before it in the original XBOX, seriously guys... how did you manage with that?
